About 10 years ago we spotted a Kooikerhondje in a dog breed book that we bought from Costco, and after I did some research, quickly discovered that it was nearly impossible to find them in the United States. For several years we continued the search, and eventually found our way to the Iserman Hoeve website. After spending several months in contact with the Knoop family, the day finally came when we got a call saying there would be a puppy available. It was literally a dream coming true and and it eventually led us to where we are now, with three lovely Kooikers.
Jac and Ann have been such a blessing with their positive and encouraging outlook, their kindness and helpfulness, and their dedication to the breed AND to the dog owners themselves is impressive. We have really appreciated how willing they are to go out of the way to make this all a balanced experience. Highly recommended!

Louis has been really turning the corner the past several months. He has gone from being pretty shy when people would come to the house to wanting to jump up and say HI! Agility training is going great. I am now working with him one-on-one and not in the group. He has surpassed his classmates and the trainer thought we should break away and only come on group nights when they are running full courses. He is definitely a fast learner whether it is agility training, riding in a bike trailer or cruising in a kayak.
He is getting along with our daughter’s chihuahua but we keep them separated. They will play running up and down our little fenced in area in the backyard. They touch paws and noses through the fence. Pretty cute but close enough as far as we are concerned. He is very well behaved at class and pays no attention to other dogs in the room. He still gets a little tense (maybe a little fearful) if a dog tries to get to cozy right in front of his face. He is not one for the butt sniffing crowd.
Patty and I were talking the other day about how Louie came into our lives. We are so happy to have him and watch his progress. I may be the big softy and Patty’s the one who spoils him.
Thanks again for letting us have him. He’s been a great addition and the best co-pilot you could ask for!

Dear Jac and Ann,
After the loss of our beloved boxer, we knew, we just had to have another dog. Our wants were many: a bit smaller, more friendly, more energetic, no stand out health issues, etc.
So I went on the internet and found that not one of Americas 400 plus breeds was the right fit for us. Then I entered 20-30 lb. dogs and searched the internet. There it was: a Kooikerhondje, "what ever that is". We read all we could about this breed and knew we were onto something good! Now to find a litter. Yeah right, we actually thought we could find a litter.
We started calling and e-mailing and were told 1-2 years to see a litter, and also that we had a better chance of seeing GOD! That took the wind out of our sails. This all came from the Kooikerhondje Club list, but then we found you guys and you called to say that you were getting a female from Holland of all places. Did I here that right? HOLLAND. Really? Boy, these little dogs are scarce around here.
We were really getting more and more intrigued by this rare breed. You were so well informed about the breed, I knew we need not look any further. We were working with the right people. Never before have we bought a dog from such a great distance, paid so much or traveled so far to get one. Never did we read so many stipulations in the purchase contract.
Are we sorry? "HELL NO!" It was the best decision we ever made. Supply and demand accounts for the price. Your care and devotion to this amazing breed is what we see in the way the contract is written. It is all about protecting the breed and the individual dog. This told us we were working with top notch breeders and put any and all of our concerns to rest.
We will probably breed her once if all goes well. We rest assured that you will help us novice through the process. The Kooikerhondje breed is off the charts when it comes to loving, devotion and sweetness! I always say we should have named Kessel (JOY) as she is pure joy and gives it all to us. We are truly blessed to have her,"our own little Kooiker". It doesn't get better than this.
We thank you both for making this journey such a pleasure.
Your Kooiker friends:
Betty, Ron and of course Kessel

Dear Jac, Ann, and family,
We saw our first Kooikerhondje at an orchid show in Louisville, KY a number of years ago. We were intrigued by the breed then, so after losing our beloved border collie we started thinking about a new dog. We wanted a dog in the 20-30 pound range, not a toy dog but who could still be a lap dog, friendly, smart and energetic. After much online research we decided to pursue a Kooikerhondje, knowing that the breed is relatively rare here. We found your Iserman Hoeve Kennel online and picked it to contact from other possibilities since Illinois is a neighboring state.
We felt even better after finding out that your Evie was soon to have puppies, perhaps even one for us. We followed everything on Facebook and were so excited when the pups were born. We were thrilled to get one of the female pups, more than thrilled, we were IN LOVE! Our great joy turned to great sorrow for all of us as our pup Greta was found to have an unusual and fatal birth defect, undeveloped kidneys. You were as devastated as we were. She was the perfect pup except for her kidneys. When you brought us a new pup at no charge direct from the Netherlands less than a month after her death we had such mixed feelings. We sorely missed our first Kooiker and what she could have become but also rejoiced that we again had a Kooiker (also named Greta) to love. You were with us all the way, in our sorrow and joy, as you felt your own sorrow and joy. We now feel very blessed to have been the proud parents of 2 Kooikers in less than a year. If only we could have them both together right now, then our dog life would be perfect!

We are so sold on the Kooikerhondje breed. Our Greta II is the most loving and sweet little dog we have ever had, plus smart, energetic, tough, and even stubborn. She is also gorgeous! We couldn’t have asked for more, both from you as the best ever dog breeders and from the breed itself. We made the best dog decision ever in getting a Kooiker and in choosing you and your kennel to stand with us. Not only does your care and devotion to your dogs exceed all expectations but you do all you can to provide Kooikerhondjes in a timely manner both through breeding your own or finding puppies through your connections in your native country, the Netherlands. Your work with the Kooikerhondje Club of the USA is outstanding!
Thank you for everything you have done to bring Kooiker joy to us! We love Greta’s smiling face, her beauty, and her personality! We will forever be grateful for your help!

The Knoop family are completely dedicated breeders and as easy and fun to work with as the Kooikerhondje is to live with. Gibson came to me at after a incredibly bad patch in life and the Knoop's were understanding and sensitive. The whole family pitched in to find Gibson for me. I had searched a very long time trying to find a Kooikerhondje to replace my dear Dutch who had died several years before. The breed is an old and venerated breed that has struggled back from almost the edge of extinction caused by WWII. And it is only through very careful breeding that the Kooiker has managed to grow in numbers without compromising it's health. So many breeds have been ruined by overbreeding and inbreeding. The Knoops are committed to outcrossing and renewing their bloodlines. Often they go to the huge trouble and expense to import new blood from Europe. Bringing in these new bloodlines is vital for the health of our US Kooikers and people like them help this old breed to improve the health and genetics for future generations.
I was referred to them by another happy owner and I completely recommend them and their Kooikers without reservation!!

Dear Jac and Ann,
Our family thanks you so much for this wonderful thing, a Kooikerhondje, that you have put into our life. This dog has made our lives whole. All day she brings joy to our hearts running around and jumping through the house making people laugh and smile. Every day when we get home from where the day has brought us, she is always there ready to see us with a warm lick and a wagging tail. When we let Honey out in the morning she is off running, so happy to see our faces. This dog, she has made us so happy. In the end I guess that I am just trying to say thank you for allowing us to take care of this wonderful creature and have Honey live with us in our house.
Sincerely,
Brenyn N.

Dear Jac,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and Ann for introducing me to the Kooikerhondje. When I first read about the Kooiker, I knew it was going to be the dog for me. Scarlett is everything I imagined and much much more. She is the sweetest, most adaptable, loyal, well mannered, smart, obedient, energetic yet passive, understanding, affectionate, loving dog and I can't imagine having another breed now or not having her in my life. We are a perfect match so thank you both very much.
John
